Thank you, Connie! I have a few of your Substack entries piled up in my inbox.. waiting to savor them when I really need something warm, intelligent, and caring to read. Today is the day, I guess. Suddenly overwhelmed with a sudden health issue with my husband, the horrible politics, my "to do" list, etc. I've snuck off to my office to read me some Connie. I think of you and Sharrod and hope both of you endure this crazy time as well. I'm glad you have your pups, your flowers and your sweet husband. Hugs to you. Thank you so much for taking the time to write for all of us. It's a gift, truly.
Wishing you a very happy birthday & Substack anniversary! I always enjoyed reading your writing in the newspaper, & how lovely to see it here now. Your warm and cheery voice brings me joy, no matter what topic you address. I am hoping that your State's voters will arrange for a Sherrod Brown reelection as another birthday gift for you. 🎁🎀🎉
If ‘resonates’ is an overused word, then let it be. Your post landed smack dab in the middle of my teardrop zone. Flowers? I’ve so many beauties that must be outside in Texas’ best weather and inside in its worst. My deck has needed repainting for far too long. I’ve been writing an XO sign off now for the last two of my 82 years. We make you want to write; well, you want to make me write. I love you XO.
Barbara Cooney’s book, Miss Rumphius, is one of my all-time favorites. I love to give it as a gift to children and adults alike.
This post felt like a gift to me, so I thank you for that. Have only just discovered your Substack today, and it's going right to the top of my STR (Substacks to Read) list. xo
Wow, so many wonderful bits of wisdom that touched me! Whenever I read your writing, I find myself enthusiastically nodding in agreement! Thank you for being you! ❤️
Thank you so much for all you do. I feel so blessed to have met and had lunch with you years ago in Alliance, Ohio. Now in CA, I look forward to your posts.
Connie, myu husband is now in a home which cares for those with long term illnesses. I have documented his journey for many years and we worked through all of it together until last fall. One suggestion for your friend is Mixtiles. (No, I don't work for them.). These are 8x8 framed pictures. I've surrounded John in his nnew home with over 50 of these and he tells me all the time how he loves them. He works to name them, remembers things he couldn't remember before, etc.
Love this. You have a beautiful way with words. Loved you and your writing since you first started, please keep it up, you are such a good person. Voting for Sherrod! Already have my yard sign.
Happy Birthday, Connie! You are a bright light in a world too often darkened by negativity. I read everything you write with eager anticipation. Thank you for being in “this place” and for bravely sharing yourself with us.
What a wonderful birthday present you have given us. This is such a joy to read. You allow us to think that we can make a difference and hope for brighter days.
