And for a kind reminder to shake a hand gently. Best wishes for another successful Re-election for Sherrod; keep your writing coming, it’s so inspiring!
I can remember how proud I was to be able to vote for John Glenn that very first time, what with experiencing his first orbits into space when I was a child. Annie became a hero once I learned of her strength to conquer her stutter. And...as it is an important election year, I want to say how proud I am to have such a trustworthy senator working for us here in Ohio. Connie, you, as was Annie, are the keen mind and wordsmith who helps me to ponder life's important moments to search for meaning. Keep on observing and writing!
A gazillion years ago, when the Internet was in its infancy, my mother (vigorous Scrabble player that she was) gave me Scrabble for my home PC. I quickly became hooked, I played often and well so that the first time we played in real life I scored 455 to her 215. I looked her dead in the eye and said, "it's your own fault..."
Connie, you're the best -- today's column made me laugh out loud (about the newspaper publisher you didn't punch). I hope your shoulder feels better soon. Signed, love my platform shoes.
Just recently learned that if you play scrabble in a way that gives large bonus points for seven letter words – all of which came out of your hand - you should stop worrying about Q & z and save all the little letters that are easy to combine for long word. I don’t play scrabble cause I can’t spell. So I’m sharing it with you. This gentleman says that you can get as many as four or five of those long words in one scrabble game if you work at it. Let me know how it goes.
Your at home physical therapy assistants sound much like my personal trainers, they run interference every time I attempt to move. Best wishes on healing and winning! The last statement from Annie reminded me of Judge Luttig testifying at the J6 Committee hearing, he spoke slowly to be heard, I wish the "undecided" voters would listen and Vote 💙.
Wow, another of your brilliant pieces. I love how you celebrate Annie Glenn, teach me about handshakes, laugh about your Scrabble wars, describe physical therapy with your doggies, and circle around to President Biden's occasional stutter. Hearing that you're watching the debate gives me courage. For me it's not about President Biden, but horror at watching the cruelty and bullying tactics of the former president. Just can't shake that off.
I think it would be great if we all started practicing the Thai style of Wai greeting instead of handshakes! As a male raised in the Deep South where I was taught a custom of not offering my hand to a woman unless they offered first, I find it awkward now in my professional line of work and not being in the south any longer. Also, we’d not have to be concerned about germs ! I enjoyed your post.
That Time I Didn’t Punch Him.
I would read this.
Knew it.😎
maybe you should have punched him. never miss the opportunity to b-slap a rightie.
Me too! What a noodge!
Thanks, Con! Perfect timing—for a welcome memory visit from Annie and for reminding us, as always, to be kind.

Letitia, thank you.

Wow, what a great score!
Thanks!!
So much to love in this! Whenever you write, it brightens my day. Thank you.

Good point; I'm still not clear as to her recovery.

Take care of yourself.
Thank you for this.
Let’s not tell Sherrod.
Do NOT play with Michael Bassett when in Port Clinton! He goes to tournaments.

It's called pain and torture sessions...the trainers can be personal terrorists if it's done well.
Your wry sense of humor is a delight! Always my spirits are lifted when I read your missives!!

Hearing that orange voice hurts my head. I'm going to try and watch.
Let's see how brave we are.
He may be more deplorable than ever.
Con, it occurs to me that dating someone new may require the litmus test of playing scrabble with them. So much about their
Creativity, sense of fairness and other personality traits may be revealed this way.
Indeed, dear Gaylee.
Face Down in the Falling Rain is an excellent title for your country band’s next album.
You could also use That Time I Didn’t Punch Him as a song!
So many possibilities.
Marvelous CSB. It must be said that blending in any amount of Walter and Franklin, elevates your musings to the next level. Brava !
I feel like Fetterman has helped with this view of weakness.

Fabulous read this morning. I feel like I had coffee with you. Long time Annie Glenn fan and your spousal humor made my day.
