I think it’s miraculous how a saying a name can bring a person back to you. Not as one would like in the early days of grieving but later, the comforting memories flow from it. I lost my sister to suicide and since my youngest asked me if I could name her daughter after her I have felt her with us. She is not Nina but Nina is with her often as her name is said. Love to you Connie, I know it’s not easy.

I am so sorry. I have a son who is an addict. I would do anything to save him, but I can't. I dread the phone call. Today at church, the priest preached on John 3:16 but said what was more meaningful to him was that God did not come into the world to condemn. We are loved. Your brother is loved and you are loved. Know that. Peace be with you.

Some of us can read in between the lines and pictures in this essay. And see our own grief. It is breathtaking each time we are reminded.

Connie, such a beautiful tribute to your brother Chuckie. For me remembering and saying a loved one's name is important and life affirming. You loved him and he you. His life mattered and still does. Blessed be.

People who want out are hurting. They want to stop hurting. But we want them to stay with us . . . and continue hurting. Is that fair?
