So cute! My son adopted a stray in early 2020. Buddy has since been nicknamed Houdini, as he is able to escape the fenced yard at will; 11 pound dogs can squeeze through small spaces. Fortunately, he always returns after surveying the street.
Shortly after adopting my tiny rescue chihuahua Marietta, she disappeared from my fenced-in backyard. I searched the neighborhood hollering in typical abject terror for my lost pup. Last chance, I tried calling her from inside my backyard. Eventually, voice from other side of tall fence, “Are you looking for a little dog?” She had crawled through a gap in my fence into my neighbor’s adjoining fenced backyard. Neighbor wasn’t home; “the voice” was neighbor’s guest who had never met Marietta until the great escape.
As always, such a delightful read. Makes me remember back when I had dogs (and cats) and one got out. It's terrifying. I love your ability to make the terrifying interesting and funny and poignant. Thanks so much. And I'm so happy Franklin was safe and sound.
I love how your dogs are not just 'pets', but furry family members, as are our four cats! I'm very glad that Franklin was safe and sound and just wanted to explore the new neighborhood a bit!
Ours are the same way, one is the happy wanderer (three legged to boot) and the other one is a momma's girl and stays close to home.
I see you both yelling your heads off for Franklin! we are the same way for Libby Lou. She now wears a air tag. Once when we found her in the fall of the year, she was hidden in the leaves as she is the same color of caramel brown leaves. Looks at us like, what? I was here the whole time!
Thank you, Connie, for making me laugh out loud (and breathe a sigh of relief for EVERYONE’S safety) at a time when it is often hard to do that. I am grateful for your writing and look forward to each installment. Godspeed on the move.
Scare to end all scares!!! The idea that our vulnerable fur babies could be harmed is truly haunting and our care for them is as if the fur part was missing!!! Gratitude aplenty!!!
I wish the microchips were also gps enabled. So glad everybody is home safe and sound.🐾

Always a very good story. Thankfully, all turned out good. Thank you.
Great sign! And SO TRUE!
Happy Move!

Thanks for the laugh and the visual I can’t get out of my head. I really needed this today. The daily news from D.C. is more than any of us can take.
