Oh, Lord! I had a sudden flashback to my mom's =brief= beehive days. Now I need to start digging through old pics looking for evidence! Thanks for the laughter (and the occasional snort)!
Catching up on your essays today. My favorite line from this one: :It sits on the railing of our front porch, and every petal is as fake as the highlights in my hair."
Your fake flower story reminded me of my mom and her wig. She had very thinning hair so every month a stylist would remove, wash, style and replace her specially made wig. It looked lovely and real. Whenever she received a compliment the first words out of her mouth were, "It’s a wig" All these uears later I still hear her voice sayin that and smile!
I also do fake flowers for same reason, they die so soon.
Every time I see your moms phots can see so much of you in her beautiful face. Know she was always proud but is still watching down loving and supporting you. <3
You made me laugh more than I have in ages. Seeing the pictures of your Mom who sounds hilarious reminded me of a book I had 20+ years ago with photos of the photographer’s Mom in various poses, including Mom as coffee table etc. I miss that book. I believe those of us who are easily entertained have a lot more fun than serious people have. 😉
Lol-ing at the "row of gutted codfish"! I share your disdain for the oil change places that make you sit in the car during auto-surgery. I used to frequent one here in town, until it changed to that model. It used to allow you to exit the car & wait in a chair in the tiny waiting area. Then, it changed hands & they now want you to remain in the car. I tried to protest the first time I visited after this change. They were not hearing me. I have not been back.

Your Mom reminds me of mine...ready to laugh and able to be a little silly with us kids! She's beautiful!

I decided to decorate without mums this year -- they are so short lived!
I needed this. The burial mound on top of her head made me laugh out loud. Thank you!!

Thanks to you and your delightful mother, this piece made me laugh out loud throughout it. Still laughing at the burial mound reference!
Delightful.

I, too, have committed to fake flowers for the front porch railing next Spring! Yours are gorgeous and validated my plan!
I am laughing so hard, I’m crying! This is hilarious. Thank you for this gift.
Ahh, but you've left us hanging! Was your oil successfully changed and will you car live to ride another day?
