Thank you for your years of service. I can’t understand what is happening in this country, why voters are not supporting democracy and candidates like Sherrod who actually work for the people.

It's inconceivable to me that Sherrod lost. But then again, somehow Trump won.

You are two fine people who deserve the respect and gratitude of all whom Senator Brown served faithfully during his time in office. I am shell shocked by his loss but your courage in moving forward is solace that will carry me back into the fight. Sleep well knowing you are loved and appreciated beyond measure for the life you have chosen live.

Thank you, Connie. I'm not a constituent of Sherrod's, but I have been a fan for many years. I began to follow his work in the Senate after following yours in The Plain Dealer. I chirped happily when I was able to send a small but heartfelt check early in the year. I stood for him when he went quickly to assist the people affected by that train accident—and returned again and again to find ways to hold the rail industry's feet to the fire.

I'm confident that you and the Senator will continue to find peace in the months ahead. Walter will see to it, and I'll offer prayers for you all too.

I had lived in Ohio for 30 years then married and moved to KY. Sherrod Brown has always impressed me by his caring nature and sense of purpose to help find a way. I continued to follow him throughout the years with my Ohio pride. I donated to his campaign a few months back for I support good people and democracy. Although I am disappointed in the election results, I am glad I read your post today and will follow you as well. Hold tight to the ones we love and keep fighting strong with goodwill and purpose. Our American democracy needs kind people who don’t back down from fascism. Stand strong together. Proud of you both!

Thank you. I am from CT. but I donated and so hoped that Ohio voters would keep their best. I am older than you both and I needed to hear this.

Thank you Connie, from deepest SW Ohio. We know principled leadership when we see it. To work and to love, this is sanity. Keep it going, shall we? It’s needed now more than ever.

It has been weeks since I could say anything about the disappointing election results. I, too, am astounded by the election results in general. I am not an Ohioan, but I am sorry that such a good person will not be able to continue his good work. Thank you, Connie, for this lovely piece!
