I gather from messages we are getting here in MD is that the JD Vance selection for VP is really a bid for Sherrod's seat. I am involved with the not-quite-as-tight but tight race between former gov Hogan and and Dem Angela Alsobrooks here and see lots of money charts. On the bright side, it might mean "they" are really worried Sherrod will win (not lots of RNC money coming to Hogan, who does not like Trump). I try to look on the bright side. I can't quite picture a Vance presidency.... we are sending love and $ from MD. Keep writing.

I will never get tired of seeing that young woman striding forward, determined to march toward her own destination. Brava to her, and to the women in her family who led the way for her.

I will continue to believe that it will be women who snap "Get over the drama! We can't afford to not show up, and keep showing up, and standing up, and, most off all, voting for democracy!" I have become completely depressed with the excessive focus on Biden's missteps, and the complete silence on the daily incoherent rants, raves, and threats of the little t-man. There needs to be a constant stream of videos, billboards, rand adio streams blanketing the nation with the headline: "Really, you want this babbling spoiled rich kid to decide the future of this country?!!"

THANK YOU Connie I needed exactly that. I come from a large family of mostly men, they will not discuss politics for the most part. It's difficult to be around them at times like this. I did seek out some like minded (mostly women) to hear their perspectives. IMHO WE MUST UMITE, those in the democratic party following the lead of the criminals and criminally induced media need to stop it. Time is short, we must UNITE and VOTE to ensure democracy.

Where can I get a Woman of Steel lapel pin? I am in a state between anger and worry. Anger the media is not mincing Trump the way they are Biden. Thank you for the pep talk. Looking for a rally here in Columbus of activist women.

I am excited to move back to Ohio after 51 years in Utah. I grew up a boomer daughter of a Tire Builder in the great neighborhood of Goodyear heights in Akron. Dad was a union member for many years until he moved into quality control. He retired from General Tire as did my Mom's Dad. I have felt hands tied and votes insignificant here in the very red state of Utah. There are very few organizations here that support women and unions. My late hubs was a member of a union here but it was definitely shackled in its ability to hold corporate feet to the fire. I miss Lake Erie, Blimps, cardinals in the backyard and the gritty no-nonsense attitude of Buckeyes. I hope I am there in time to vote for Sherrod. Bringing my youngest son and that would be 2 more votes for him! Love reading your posts.

Last Sunday at my church (Episcopal) we celebrated the life of Pauli Murray. If you don't know of her (lots of folks don't) she was a lawyer, activist, African American Episcopal Priest, writer, poet... you can find her out there. She died on July 1, 1985. One of her rallying cries: "one woman and a typewriter is a movement." I know for me I have to remind myself that even though I lack "name recognition" I can still write, put things out in front of those in my community, keep talking... that those of us who lack Connie's words and name (and bless you Connie for being there) need to think about being writers and talkers too. What if, together, each and all of us put our imaginations together to put out our ideas for what might be a productive, peaceful, and better way of politics? The world needs all of us. What if all of those imaginations rub together out there, what if that makes a quilt? Just what if?

Yes! Thank you for these words. I keep saying some form of these to my baby boomer peers and even my 87 year old mother, recently.

“We can lead with our injuries, insisting that we had it tough and so should they. Or we can do all that we can to help clear the trail.”

I get back blank stares or pushback. No one says “yes!” Like I just did when I read this.

You are a wise woman and I love your new pin. Thanks for your inspiring words.

I’ve been disheartened since the debate, especially so with all the doom and gloom outlook you wrote of but, as always, you give me hope. Thank you, Connie!!!

Thank you for this message of hope! Project 2025 is downright scary - and your words tell me to move past despair and do something. Will join with politically active women in my town to do the hard work. We can’t wait for someone to save us. We have the power.

My father owned a business, but we were a family of union people. He always met local union wages, benefits, and conditions plus 10%. He wasn’t a good father, but he was a good boss.

I live in Massachusetts, so I’m frustrated that, since Ed Brook, I haven’t been able to do more than contribute to campaigns. You are the knight who goes off to the war for us. Thank you!
